Lularoe Planets Leggings - a Unicorn?

Lularoe Planets Unicorn Leggings

Lularoe Planets Outer Space Galaxy Rockets Solar System

These leggings need a better name! Ok, seriously though if you have a pair in this pattern you can just call them Lularoe Planets and most people will know what you are talking about. If you are wanting to know if your Planets leggings are a valuable unicorn the answer is "it depends" (how typical!).

First, let's take a look at what's available. It appears that Lularoe Planets leggings come in 4 distinct colors. The purple and black backgrounds pictured above, and two versions of blue:

Resale Activity

You know that we are not consultants so as usual we're going to look at the value of these leggings on the resale market. There is a lot of activity on Facebook B/S/Ts but our best source of data is going to be eBay since they make 90 days of transaction data available. Over the past 90 days we've seen 216 Planets leggings sell that were sized OS or TC and not bundled with anything else.

The leggings with the purple background were by far the most commonly available, making up 148 of the transactions. Important to note: Purple Lularoe Planets leggings only come in OS. This makes TC Planets a lot more rare and we did notice very distinct differences in pricing for TC vs OS. Black proved to have the highest premium of any color.

Lularoe Planets OS (One Size)

  • Purple [148 Sold] Low: $25.00 / High: $61.00 / Avg: $39.49
  • Light Blue [16 Sold] Low: $24.50 / High: $69.99 / Avg: $36.40
  • Dark Blue [8 Sold] Low: $31.00 / High: $77.16 / Avg: $43.08
  • Black [11 Sold] Low: $34.75 / High: $75.00 / Avg: $56.75
You can see here Black has the highest average price by twenty dollars and is the most desirable unicorn in the planets print. The price on purple was a little bit higher at the beginning of the year and has been falling as more and more people list them (always happens on popular prints). If you shop for purple planets today then you should actually aim to pay below the average listed here as many are going in the low thirties as of April/May.

Generally for purple you should avoid fixed price listings on eBay unless they are priced close to retail. Most auctions will deliver a lower price for you. The other colors are so scarce, a fixed price listing may be your only option when shopping for that particular unicorn.

Lularoe Planets TC (Tall & Curvy)

  • Light Blue [9 Sold] Low: $45.00 / High: $60.00 / Avg: $51.33
  • Dark Blue [14 Sold] Low: $44.00 / High: $89.00 / Avg: $64.75
  • Black [10 Sold] Low: $47.00 / High: $165.00 / Avg: $87.30
Again, black is the clear run away favorite in terms of what ladies are willing to pay to land this unicorn. All of TC comes in at a premium over OS averaging about $20 more, but the real big numbers have all been done on black.

If you are looking to land Lularoe Planets in TC your options will be limited, so don't ignore fixed price listings unless they have crazy high prices. If you are lucky, you may be able to take advantage of price confusion. We find with this type of unicorn where one color or size is worth far more than the rest people will not research thoroughly enough and make pricing mistakes.

For example, if you see a few pairs of black planets listed between $100 - $149, you may incorrectly assume that your purple pair is worth a lot more than it is:

But, on the flip side someone who see all the purple planets selling in the $30-$40 range might assume their black pair is worth about the same, when it could go for double that price:

Be careful as you shop for this unicorn. There are kid sizes available and colors can look quite different from one computer screen to the next. The purple can be quite dark and in some photos looks close to black.

Paisley Skulls Lularoe Unicorn Leggings

Lularoe Paisley Skull unicorn

Paisley Skull Unicorn Leggings

When this print dropped in 2016's Halloween capsule it immediately sky rocketed as a mega 'corn on the the resale market. What's been very interesting to watch is this pattern's staying power as a desirable unicorn legging. Paisley skulls were not just a flash in the pan for Halloween but continue to be a highly sought after and expensive Lularoe unicorn.

Even as we roll deep into Spring 133 pairs of these leggings have changed hands on eBay over the past 90 days. Paisley skulls (sometimes also called Sugar Skulls although that is a distinctive print all it's own) comes in both OS and TC and is available with a teal or black background in both sizes. Like many prints, the pricing varies by both size and color.

Teal Paisley Skulls

One Size (OS)

  • Low - $53
  • High - $130
  • Average - $91.19
Of 133 total Paisley Skulls leggings, 42 sold were in OS with a teal background. Like most unicorns, fixed price listings went for a premium, coming in at an average price of $104. There was quite a variance in pricing, with many auction style listings in this color and size going for less than $80, well under the average price.

Tall & Curvy (TC)

  • Low - $61.33
  • High - $179.99
  • Average - $110.64
The Paisley Skulls unicorn does go at a premium in TC prices, coming in at an average price $20 higher in the teal color. This is driven by scarcity--only 17 TC leggings in teal changed hands. As usual, auctions style listings tend to go for lower final prices, but there may not be a large number of auctions to participate in, which can drive up the final price. If you see a fixed priced listing at or below the average listed here you can feel comfortable pulling the trigger.

Black Paisley Skulls

One Size (OS)

  • Low - $50
  • High - $157
  • Average - $99.18
Overall black runs at a premium compared to teal even though there were more listings available. There were 58 OS leggings in this color that changed hands with fixed price running about $10 higher than the average. The low price outlier was a fixed price listing so be on the look out for good deals.

Tall & Curvy (TC)

  • Low - $86
  • High - $189.99
  • Average - $133.97
The disparity between OS and TC was amplified in black with TC coming in at an extreme $40 premium over OS. Again, TC listings were much harder to come by in this unicorn pattern with just 16 sold over the past 90 days. Most of these (14 of 16) sold at auction with the scarce number available really driving up the price.

Current Paisley Skull Listings

There's no need to wait until the Fall to start shopping for this unicorn, but plan on spending $100 or being extremely active in available auction style listings to try to land these leggings for below average costs. You can shop for current Paisley Skull listings on eBay here.

Lularoe Leggings Unicorn Mosaic Deer [Updated]

Mosaic Deer (sometimes also called "Stained glass" deer) is a Lularoe unicorn that has exploded in popularity recently. We have a robust amount of pricing data to get a pretty solid picture of how much you should expect to pay to land these leggings.

There are four distinct variations of Mosaic Deer leggings and some of them are much more desirable than others. And, without a careful eye, you may actually purchase the wrong leggings!

Mosaic Deer come in black version that comes in both sizes, a red or blue version that comes in both sizes (retired), a red version that only comes in TC and a navy blue version that (seems to) only come in TC. The red is also available in tween sizes and skirts so make sure you are looking at the right product if red suits your fancy.

Over the past 90 days there have been an incredible 512 leggings bought and sold on eBay in all of the different varieties of this print. The truest unicorns of the bunch are the retired red and blue versions that we will detail below. Because of the potential to mix some variations up, we will discuss how to identify the different patterns in addition to the pricing trends below.

Black

In our minds, this is a true "Mosaic" pattern. Defining characteristics include the variety of color and shapes inside the deer, giving rise to the "Mosaic" or "Stained Glass" description. Also note that roughly three deer go across the wider part of one leg. The presence of both TC and OS are also a notable feature of this pattern.

Over the past 90 days a robust 195 of this Lularoe unicorn have changed hands.
  • Low - $16.99
  • High - $150
  • Average - $59.81
OS and TC were evenly represented with 97 and 98 listings respectively. OS Mosaic Deer did go for a slight premium with an average price of $62.69 compared to TC's $56.95. Yes, someone did sell a pair for $16.99, no word on whether that was a damaged or very worn pair of what. There were plenty of this unicorn that went for over $75 or a $100, but a patient buyer can certainly find a good deal around the average price by shopping around.

Navy Blue

The thing about this version of this unicorn print is that it is a very dark navy background. Many of the photographs on listings will actually look black. You may see this effect in the close up of the pattern in the above pic.

Defining characteristics of this pattern are a much darker brown and black palette coloring the deer. Notice also that approximately four deer go across the widest part of the leg (as opposed to three in the Black print). Lastly, this version of Mosaic Deer seems like it only comes in TC. Please leave us a note in the comments if you know otherwise.

Over the past 90 days there 197 of these sold:
  • Low - $9.99
  • High - $65
  • Average - $38.99
You can see the average price is much lower than the Black Mosaic Deer above. In fact, tons of this particular Lularoe print went for at or even below retail. That, combined with the color looking black in many photos leads us to believe that some of the higher prices fetched for this unicorn were due to buyer confusion. Here's a side by side close up of the Black Mosaic Deer and the Navy Mosaic Deer:

Red Small

There should be no confusion with this Lularoe print. It's only available in TC and the deer are much smaller on this version of unicorn taking 10 to go across the widest part of the leg.

There were 106 sold over the last 90 days with the following results:
  • Low - $15
  • High - $76
  • Average - $29.22
Seems like there is always at least one person on eBay who will vastly over pay for anything with the word unicorn on it. For the most part this pattern sticks to at or below retail, and should be quite easy to acquire if you are looking for it.

Red / Blue Large Print (retired)

Truthfully these are your Mosaic Deer unicorns as these Lularoe leggings are retired patterns. Easily distinguishable from the patters above because the deer are so much larger.

Only 14 of these changed hands and only 4 of those were TC:
  • Low - $38
  • High - $150
  • Average - $73.57
Red was the final price favorite with an average price of just over $80 compared to just $61 for blue. Red TC commanded the strongest premium with an average price of $125.
